This landscape architecture portfolio piece documents Pinetons Park (Parc dels Pinetons), an 11-hectare green space in Ripollet, Barcelona. Designed by landscape architect Isidre Santacreu, the park creates a gradual transition between the expanding urban residential zones and the natural Mediterranean landscape.

The photoshoot captures the large-scale geometric layouts, modern shade structures, and central focal points that characterise this open-air community sanctuary.

Documenting Civic Interventions: Steel, Wood, and Water

The visual storytelling of this public park photoshoot highlights structural linearity, functional public spaces, and natural scenery.

  • Modern Shade Architectures: A central visual anchor of the open plazas is two custom-designed, contemporary steel-and-wood shade structures. The photography uses low and wide-angle frames to emphasise the geometry of these minimalist pergolas, showing how their timber slats and iron frames cast shadows throughout the gravel walkways.
  • The Central Water Jet Feature: The series documents the park’s iconic landmark—a massive public fountain with a powerful vertical water jet. The compositions capture this feature from multiple angles, showing how the plume serves as a landmark visible from the surrounding areas.
  • Topographical and Linear Rhythms: Rows of stone steps, gravel walkways, and trees carve clean paths through the landscape. The photographs frame these features as leading lines, showing the drainage and grading systems that handle rainwater and organise visitor movement.

Photographing sprawling public landscapes requires navigating vast horizons and unpredictable natural light. Every frame in this collection uses careful horizontal and vertical perspective lines to prevent wide-angle lens distortion across the steel frames and stairways.
